The name ‘Talpagiri‘ originates from a legend states that when Lord Vishnu descended to Earth, his mount, Adi Sesha (the serpent God), took the form of a hill here to serve as his couch. In Telugu, ‘Talpa’ refers to the couch of the serpent Adi Sesha.

- Sanctum and Main Idol :– Uniquely, the main deity faces the West direction towards the Penna River, unlike most Hindu temples that face East. Inside the sanctum sanctorum, Lord Ranganatha reclines gracefully on the serpent bed of Adi Sesha, with the idol measuring 10 feet in length. Lord Brahma is depicted seated on a lotus emerging from the LordтАЩs navel, while Goddess Sridevi and Bhudevi rest near his feet.
