Gagron Fort, situated in the Jhalawar district of Rajasthan, is a prime example of India’s finest ‘Jal Durg’ (Water Fort). It is surrounded on three sides by the confluence of the Ahu and Kalisindh rivers. Built around the 7th or 8th century by the Dod King Bijaldev, it later came under the rule of the Khichi Chauhans. This fort has witnessed several fierce battles and two ‘Jauhars‘. Due to its strategic position and invincible structure, it is included in the UNESCO World Heritage list.

Exterior Architecture :– The most striking feature of this fort is that it has no foundation. It stands directly on a massive natural rock. With water on three sides and a deep moat on the fourth, it was nearly impossible for enemies to breach. Its massive gates and bastions speak volumes of its strength.
Interior Architecture :– The fort houses a blend of Hindu and Muslim heritage।
- Dargah of Sufi Saint Mithe Shah :– A very sacred site inside the fort that attracts thousands of pilgrims during the annual Urs.

- Madhusudan Temple :– An ancient and beautiful temple dedicated to Lord Krishna.
- Gidh Karai :– A high cliff behind the fort from where prisoners were once thrown down as a death penalty.
