Swaminarayan Akshardham Temple, located on the banks of the Yamuna River in New Delhi, is a grand cultural and spiritual complex. It was formally inaugurated on November 6, 2005, under the guidance and blessings of Pramukh Swami Maharaj (BAPS Swaminarayan Sanstha). Over 11,000 artisans and thousands of volunteers contributed to constructing this massive complex in a record time of just 5 years. Detailed Architecture :-

​Remarkably, no concrete, cement, or steel was used in the construction of this grand monument; it is built entirely using interlocking blocks of Rajasthani pink sandstone and Italian Carrara marble. The main sanctum sanctorum houses an 11-foot-tall gold-plated idol of Bhagwan Swaminarayan. The lower base features the ‘Gajendra Pith’, adorned with exquisite carvings of 148 life-sized elephants. The temple boasts 234 intricately carved pillars and 9 magnificent domes.

  • Ticket :– Entry into the temple complex and offering prayers at the main shrine is completely free of charge. However, separate tickets must be purchased for the indoor exhibitions and the evening Musical Water Show.
  • Visiting Time :– 10:00 AM to 06:30 PM (Entry hours). Please note that the entire complex remains completely closed on Mondays.
  • How to Reach :– The most convenient way to reach is via the Delhi Metro. You can alight at the ‘Akshardham Metro Station’ on the Blue Line, which is just a 5-minute walk from the temple.
  • Photography Spots :– Due to strict security reasons, mobile phones, cameras, and all electronic items are completely prohibited inside the complex. You can capture memories outside the main entrance.
