The old name of this region was ‘Dankaur’, and its surrounding areas were historically recognized as part of ‘Pargana Dankaur’ or ‘Secunderabad’. According to mythology, Dankaur was originally named ‘Dronakaur‘ after Guru Dronacharya, who had his ashram here, and it is the same place where Eklavya practiced archery. In the year 1997, the Uttar Pradesh government carved out portions of Ghaziabad and Bulandshahr to form a new district. Honoring the legacy and teachings of Lord Buddha, this region was officially named ‘Gautam Buddha Nagar’.
