Swaminarayan Akshardham Temple, Delhi :- Travel Guide & Routes

How to Reach :-

Akshardham Temple is strategically located near the Noida Mor on National Highway 24 (NH-24) in New Delhi. It is highly accessible from any corner of Delhi or the NCR region (Noida, Ghaziabad, Gurugram, Faridabad):

1. By Metro (The Best & Most Convenient Option)

  • Metro Station :– The easiest, fastest, and most comfortable way to reach the temple is via the Delhi Metro. You need to travel on the Blue Line and deboard at the ‘Akshardham Metro Station’.
  • Distance :– The main entrance gate of the temple is just 350 meters away from the metro station. After exiting the station, you can easily walk to the temple in about 5 minutes, or take an e-rickshaw available right outside, which drops you at the gate in less than 2 minutes.

2. By Road and Local Bus

  • If you prefer traveling by bus, several Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) buses ply from Anand Viha Terminus, Kashmiri Gate ISBT, or New Delhi Railway Station, dropping passengers off at the Akshardham bypass on NH-24.
  • If you are commuting via personal vehicle, taxi (Ola/Uber), or auto-rickshaw, you can directly take the National Highway 24 (NH-24) route. The grand spires of the temple are easily visible from the highway.

3. From Railway Stations & the Airport

  • From New Delhi Railway Station (NDLS) :– Located approximately 11 km away. The best route is to take the Yellow Line metro to Rajiv Chowk, then switch to the Blue Line directly to Akshardham.
  • From Hazrat Nizamuddin Railway Station (NZM) :– Located just 6 km away. Taking a direct auto-rickshaw or cab from the station is the quickest option.

Author’s Thoughts :-

To completely bypass Delhi’s notorious traffic and save time, my personal recommendation would be to strictly use the Delhi Metro (Blue Line) to reach Akshardham. It is highly efficient and leaves you right next to the complex without any travel exhaustion. If you are traveling with elderly family members or young children, utilizing the e-rickshaws right outside the metro station is the most practical choice.

“With the smooth speed of the metro and the sacred doors of spirituality close by, every route leading to Akshardham is effortless and welcoming.”
