The architecture of the Akshardham temple is crafted in strict accordance with the rules and principles of ancient Indian Shilpa Shastras and Vastu Shastra. The most remarkable feature of this grand monument is that no concrete, cement, or iron-steel rods were used in its entire construction; it is built entirely from interlocking pieces of Rajasthani pink sandstone and Italian Carrara marble.
The main shrine (Garbhagriha) of the temple is breathtakingly beautiful, housing an 11-foot-tall golden idol of Bhagwan Swaminarayan at its center.
