Detailed History :-
Tulsi Manas Mandir is one of the most aesthetically pleasing and historically significant temples in Varanasi. Constructed in 1964 by the Sureka family of Kolkata, it stands on the exact spot where the legendary poet Goswami Tulsidas wrote the ‘Ramcharitmanas‘ in the 16th century. It was inaugurated by the then President of India, Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan. The temple is dedicated to Lord Rama and immortalizes the epic through its unique architecture.
Exterior Architecture Description :-
The temple’s exterior is a grand structure made of pure white marble. It showcases a modern blend of traditional Hindu architectural elements. Surrounded by manicured lawns and fountains, the white facade gleams beautifully under the sun. The entrance is majestic, featuring grand stairs and intricate carvings on the spires (Shikharas), making it a visual treat for visitors.
Interior Architecture Description :-
The interior is the highlight of this temple. The walls of the entire hall are inscribed with the verses (Chaupais) and couplets (Dohas) of the Ramcharitmanas. On the first floor, there are life-like, mechanized puppet displays depicting various scenes from the Ramayana. The main sanctum houses beautiful idols of Lord Rama, Goddess Sita, Lakshman, and Hanuman. The use of white marble creates a cool and peaceful indoor environment.
